Privacy Policy
Nota Baby, last updated 17 October 2026
Nota Baby collects nothing about you. Everything you log is stored on your own device and in your own iCloud account, and we cannot read it.
Who we are
Nota Baby is made and published by Karl Jonathan Dahlin Zanders, a sole trader registered in Sweden, Skrittgatan 6B, 43132 Mölndal. Where this policy says "we", it means that business. For the one thing we do hold, a message you send us, we are the data controller, and the address at the bottom of this page reaches us.
What we collect
Nota Baby has no accounts or sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party SDKs. Nothing you log about your child can be read by us. What passes through our relay, when a log is shared or used on more than one of your own devices, is described under Sharing with someone else. The one thing we keep is a feedback message you choose to write, described below.
Where your data lives
Everything you record is stored in a database on your device. That means feeds, sleep, diapers, medicines, temperatures and symptoms, growth measurements, foods, appointments, notes and any places you save.
If you have iCloud enabled, that database is also synced to your own iCloud private database, using Apple's CloudKit. This is the same private storage your other Apple apps use. It is tied to your Apple Account, it is not accessible to us, and Apple's own privacy policy governs it.
Once a day the app also writes a backup file of the log to its own folder on your device, which you can see in the Files app. The app keeps the last three for each child and uploads them nowhere. You can turn this off under Settings › Automatic backup.
Sharing with someone else
You can share a child's log with other people, and give each of them read-write or read-only access. This uses Apple's CloudKit sharing: the invitation and the shared data travel through Apple's systems between the Apple Accounts involved. We are not a party to it and cannot read it. You can stop sharing at any time from within the app.
When someone else logs the baby falling asleep or waking up, your phone can show a notification, and the words are put together on your phone.
To tell the other phones, the phone that logged asks notababy.app to send each of them a message through Apple's push service. This also happens between two devices signed into the same Apple Account, such as your phone and your iPad, even when the log isn't shared. The request holds their push addresses and, for a notification, a short notice sealed with a key that lives in the shared log in iCloud, which we have no access to, so we can't read it. For the card on the Lock Screen it also holds a note of what is running, sealed the same way. The service keeps none of it. To stop anyone flooding a phone, it counts how many messages each phone gets in a minute, under a scrambled form of its push address, and the count is gone within the minute. It runs on Cloudflare, which may keep ordinary delivery records for a short time.
Location
If you turn on Places, Nota Baby asks for permission to use your location while you are using the app. When you record an entry, the app may store the coordinates on that entry so it can tell you whether something happened at home or away.
- There is no background location use, no region monitoring, and the app never asks for "Always" permission.
- Coordinates are stored on the entry, sync to your own iCloud like everything else, and reach anyone you have shared the log with.
- You can delete saved places, and the coordinates with them, under Places in the app.
- If you never turn Places on, no location is ever requested or stored.
Calendar
If you choose to sync appointments to a calendar, Nota Baby asks for calendar access and reads and writes events in one calendar that you choose. It does not read or change anything outside that calendar. The events stay in your calendar if you stop using the feature.
Asking questions about your log
Nota Baby can answer questions about what you have logged. This runs entirely on your device, using Apple's on-device model, and neither your question nor your log is sent anywhere.
Health data
Nota Baby does not read from or write to Apple Health.
Purchases
Nota Premium is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment and we never see your payment details. The app asks Apple whether this Apple Account holds a purchase, its own or one shared through Family Sharing, and stores only the yes-or-no answer on your device.
Feedback and support email
The app has a feedback form under Settings. If you use it, what you typed is sent to us as an email, together with a reply address if you chose to give one, and one line naming the app version, build number, iOS version and device model. The form shows you that line before you send. It passes through a small forwarding service we run at notababy.app, which keeps no copy. That service runs on Cloudflare, whose Workers and Email Routing may keep delivery records for a short time, and the email lands in a mailbox run by Google. Both handle it on our behalf and for nothing else. We use it only to read what you said and to answer you, which is our legitimate interest in hearing from the people who use the app. We delete a feedback email, and any reply address in it, within six months of answering it.
The support page on this site has a form that works the same way: it sends what you typed and a reply address if you gave one, through the same forwarding service, and nothing else.
If you email us directly instead, we will have whatever you put in that email, on the same terms. Your log is never attached to a support email. If you want to send us data, the app's export gives you a file and you decide where it goes.
Children
Nota Baby is for parents and caregivers to use, not for children, and it collects no data from children.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes the database and its backup files from your device. To remove the synced copy, delete Nota Baby's data from iCloud in Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage on your device. Because we hold nothing from the log, there is nothing there for you to ask us to delete. If you would like confirmation of that in writing, email us.
If you have written to us, that email is the one thing we hold about you. You can ask us what it is, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to our keeping it, at the address below, and we answer within a month. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, imy.se.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and any change that affects what the app stores or shares will also change the text shown when the app asks for permission.
